Current Project:

I am currently performing in one of the projects that falls under the overall umbrella of Minakshi entertainments. These are a bunch of extremely talented musicians, and the music is a lot of fun. We are going to be performing live shows at the Sabang Indonesian Restaurant starting May, 2007. Do visit my blog to learn about upcoming gigs.

I still like to perform with my band Antardhwani. It’s great fun, and we make some good music so be sure to check out our webpage. So far we have performed at Sparsh 2005, the Delhi University Economics Alumni meet, and a variety of private parties, and are looking to perform at many more places. I keep a log of these performances on my blog, and some of our other band members including Supratik, Amrit, and Alap write about it.

Current Rig:
I currently use both my Casio CT-670 and a new Casio WK-3500. They are hooked up to a computer sequencer with a variety of soft-synths, and an audio mixer.

Music History:

I learnt how to sight read the treble clef musical notation in school in Germany, while learning to play the recorder. Seeing my aptitude for music, my parents bought me a Casio MT-140 for my 10th Birthday. It was a 49 mini-key, 20 rhythm, 20 sound, keyboard that was perfect for learning at the time. They also bought me “The Complete Keyboard Player Vol. 1” by Kenneth Baker. By that afternoon, I started playing “Merrily We Roll Along” with both hands: the melody on the right and the chord accompaniment on the left.

I guess the simplicity with which a good, complete, orchestral sound could be produced on a keyboard was very encouraging. Being an only child, and having plenty of time to do stuff on my own, I learnt playing more and more tunes pretty fast. My music teacher, Mr. David Hayes was also very supportive. Before leaving Germany, we bought a Casio CT-670. . .which was a top of the line keyboard Casio at the time (I have reviewed it here).

I have played at a variety of occasions ranging from Durga Puja’s, College Festivals, and Embassy gatherings, to private performances at home in front of guests. I have played with groups of instrumentalists, with many different vocalists, and in the Music Club in BITS Pilani. My current rig is shown here.
